Scar tissue

Dr. Phipps specializes in diagnosing and treating scar tissue.

Scar tissue can form in muscles, ligaments, or tendons.  It can even form between a muscle and nerve causing tingling into your hands or feet.  Scar tissue can form from injury but most of the time it forms from overuse.  Sitting, standing, or typing can even be enough to generate scar tissue. (For more information on scar tissue formation click here.)

Scar tissue acts like glue in a muscle causing it to not stretch or contract properly.  This results in a muscle that doesn’t have the flexibility or strength to perform its job.  This will alter the normal motion of a joint and cause pain. (For more information on how scar tissue can lead to pain click here.)

Dr. Phipps uses Manual Adhesion Release (MAR) and Instrument Adhesion Release (IAR) to remove the scar tissue.  MAR and IAR are noninvasive hands on techniques that eliminate scar tissue.  Once the scar tissue is removed, the flexibility and strength of the muscle is restored. This will allow the joint to move normally and reduce your pain. (For more information on MAR and IAR click here.)
